    Get PDF
The paper presents the application of the Taguchi robust design methods to optimize the precision and accuracy of the electrical discharge machining process (EDM) for machining of precise cylindrical forms on hard and difficult-to-machine materials. The present study has been carried out on the influence of six design factors: intensity supplied by the generator of the EDM machine (I), pulse-on time (ti), voltage (V), pulse-off time (to), servo (VG), and rotational speed (C) which are the most relevant parameters to be controlled by the EDM process machinists, over material removal rate (MRR) as an indicator of the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the process. The study of behaviour of the mentioned response has done by means of the technique called design of experiments (DOE). In this case, an L18 (21 × 37) Taguchi standard orthogonal array was chosen due to the number of factors and their levels in the study

A tabu search approach for mixed-model parallel assembly line balancing problem (type II)

    Get PDF
There are two types of assembly line balancing problems (ALBPs), which have received a great attention in the literature during the past four decades: types I and II. Both versions of ALBP are NP-hard and cannot be solved by exact methods. This paper presents an efficient tabu search (TS) metaheuristic approach for allocating tasks to balance the mixed-model production through the parallel assembly lines. Firstly, an initial solution is determined by a heuristic algorithm. Secondly, an optimum cycle time for each line in the mixed-model parallel assembly line (MMPAL) is calculated through the TS. The developed methodology, tabu search mixed-model parallel assembly line balancing (TMMPALB) model, is tested on test problems producing three and four products. Computational experiments show that the TMMPALB produces good enough solutions in case of MMPALs. The results of the proposed procedure improve cycle times of 77 test problems out of 87

Medicinal plants can be used as alternative prevention and treatment of fish diseases. Its use can be mixed in the feed, but must be by the dose so as not to interfere with fish health. Fish health can be evaluated by measuring the blood profile. The blood profile of this study includes hemoglobin, hematocrit, blood glucose, and total erythrocytes. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of adding Avicennia marina leaf extract as seen from the total erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels, hematocrit values, and blood glucose levels. The research method used was CRD consisting of 4 treatments and 5 individual replicates of tilapia. The addition of Avicennia marina extract to fish feed (1 g/kg; 1,5 g/kg; and 2 g/kg) had a total erythrocytes range of 0,995x106–2,658x106 cell/mm3, hemoglobin ranged from 8,3–11,6 g/dL, hematocrit ranged from 23.1–38,4 g/dL, and blood glucose ranged from 46–209 mg/dL. The results showed that the addition of Avicennia marina leaf extract had no significant effect (P>0,05) on the blood profile of fish as measured by total erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and glucose. Aquaculture water quality in the form of temperature and pH has the optimum value for tilapia cultivation

SOCIAL INTERACTION IN HIZBUT TAHRIR ORGANIZATION: THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RELIGION AND STATE IN MAKASSAR

ABSTRACT Modernization that creates secularism became a historical fact in the life of modern western society. The focus of this research is to reveal the social interaction of Hizbut tahrir organization in the implementation of the pattern and strategy of social interaction, especially relating to the religion and the State. This study used qualitative research methods with a phenomenological approach. The location of the research was in the city of Makassar area. The research used purposive sampling technique. The process of data collection used in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. Analysis of the data is by using descriptive-interpretative techniques. The findings of this study show that Hizbut-Tahrir has built social relationships with other groups intensively. Construction theory is made by composing two sets of propositions. First, if a religion designs and conducts social interaction in the context of the relationship between religion and the state, it should have the ability to interact socially with the community as a movement. Second, if the interaction goes well, the socialization of values and goals of this religious organization will be able to be understood and accepted by the public. The above proposition is in accordance with the theory of Social Construction of Peter L Berger. Cycle of externalizing, internalizing, and objectification are a general pattern of any form of social interaction for better change

This work demonstrates a highly efficient electrochemical cell based on the hybrid nanofluid of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles dispersed in a water-based copper (II) phthalocyanine-tetrasulfonic acid tetrasodium salt (CuTsPc) solution. A chemical cell of ITO/nanofluid/ITO has been fabricated to study the effect of temperature variations towards its capacitance and resistance. The resultant device possessed capacitive sensing mechanism, and the synergistic hybridization of the two different sensing elements lead to the superior performance as compared to the single CuTsPc based device. The hybrid device outperformed the pristine CuTsPc based device in terms of sensitivity, stability, linearity, response/recovery and possessed narrow hysteresis loop
